MO-KAN PET PARTNER EVALUATION
In order to process evaluations you need to initiate your registration process on the Pet Partners website. For renewing teams you will receive an email notice from Pet Partners Operations about 5 months prior to your registration expiration date that it’s time to renew. Follow the instructions to log into the Volunteer Center on the Pet Partners website (www.petpartners.org) and begin your renewal process. Within the renewal process you will be able to request an evaluation date on their calendar. Search for Kansas City, Missouri. For new animals you will log in to your account in the Volunteer Center on the Pet Partners website. From there you can register your new animal and request an evaluation date. When you request your evaluation date on the Pet Partners site, it will tell you it is full and waitlist you. At that time the Evaluation Coordinator will receive notification and respond to let you know if there are openings on your requested date. In order to secure an evaluation appointment, you will need to provide the following documentation to the Evaluation Coordinator: 1. Mo-Kan evaluation registration form (www.mo-kanpetpartners.org) 2. Handler’s Questionnaire 3. Current proof of rabies 4. Check Items 1-3 may be scanned and emailed to the Evaluation Coordinator to more quickly secure your spot.
1.New handlers must take the Pet Partner Training or Home Study before evaluating.The Pet Partner Training is highly recommended.
2.Cats and intact animals are required to be scheduled as the last evaluation of the day. Females in season cannot be evaluated.
3.A team approach will be utilized in the evaluation.The evaluator may seek/receive input from co-evaluators, expert assistants, and/or other experienced Pet Partner volunteers in attendance.The evaluators have the ultimate responsibility and accountability for the evaluation.
4.Evaluators who are familiar with an animal must not evaluate the animal.The evaluator is considered “familiar” with the animal if the animal has become habituated enough to the evaluator such that the animal’s behavior is influenced, positively or negatively.Another evaluator will perform the hands on portion of the evaluation. Evaluators should not evaluate close friends and family members.
5.Each evaluation schedule will be distributed by the Evaluation Coordinator a week prior to each evaluation.All scheduling requests should be directed to the Evaluation Coordinator.
6.The evaluation period begins when a handler steps out of the car when arriving at the evaluation location and ends when the handler returns to their car.
7.Teams should arrive not more than 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Location and directions are located on the top of the evaluation registration form.
