The week of July 18, several Mo-Kan Pet Partners teams in the Greater Kansas City area joined the fun at the Champions Special Ministry Summer Camp, held at Liberty United Methodist church, Liberty Missouri.
Champions Special Ministry is a nonprofit organization ministering to those with disabilities and their families. One program offered, Summer Day Camps, seeks to provide a Summer camp experience for those who would not otherwise be able to participate.
Champions’ Summer Camps partner with churches throughout the nation. They supply the camp staff and programming while churches provide the facilities and volunteer “buddies” who partner one on one with special needs campers registered from the region. Some campers drove over 40 miles each way to attend!
38 Special Needs campers, ages 6 through 30 and their buddies enjoyed the love and unconditional acceptance of five canine and one mini horse Pet Partners teams.
Photo/ video release forms were signed by all parents associated with the photos attached.

Two of our wonderful new teams helped the residents of Benton House, Tiffany Springs celebrate The Kentucky Derby in style on Saturday May 2. Sweet Pea and Pippin, the mini horses with their partners, Sharon White-Lewis and Beth Armstrong spread their love among the mint juleps and derby bonnets, earning many wide smiles.
