It is with a heavy heart, yet one full of pride, that I inform you of the decision to retire my first partner Onix. She has served thousands of hours during hundreds of visits in hospitals, nursing home and schools as a registered therapy animal and R.E.A.D team member since 2009. ~Julie
Josie Leschena has retired from Pet Partners. She loved the children at TLC and doing special events. I always wanted her to be good at hospitals because I enjoy going there so much, but all she wanted to do was dig in the bed and get comfy...not a great thing for an ailing client. She has decided being our own family thereap dog is best for her and I so respect that. She is a sweetie.
Kip is enjoying his retirement after five years spent visiting Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Research Psychiatric Center, The Center for Behavioral Medicine, Children’s TLC, and Garden Terrace. Kip loved visiting, and made many people happy with his goofy grin and his ability to spin three times and then roll over. He has been a nonjudgemental friend to many.
He now keeps busy with long walks, frisbee fetch, and bothering his cat brothers.
Maddy (Maddigan) Leschena has retired. He was pretty well known around SMMC, they loved him there. He also visited at Children's TLC and Kansas City Hospice. He just found being a therapy dog for mommy and daddy was more than enough. AND, of course, we are ALL good with that!
Salty Bidwell just retired last month at 10 years old. Was a Delta Dog 9 years of her life visiting Children's Theraputic Learning Center bi-weekly. Her dad, granddam, Clover, and great granddam, Flower were also Delta Dogs, along with Aunt Blossom, covering a span of 25 years, and all servicing Children's TLC. They held a huge retirement party for Salty in May.
